Revelation 21 Verse 4 Explained



📖 VERSE OF THE DAY SCRIPTURE

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
— Revelation 21:4 (KJV)


✨ EXPLANATION

Have you ever experienced a season of life where it felt like the pain would never end? Perhaps you have lost someone you loved, struggled with sickness, faced disappointment, or cried yourself to sleep because of circumstances beyond your control. If so, Revelation 21:4 is one of the most comforting promises found in the Bible. ❤️

This verse gives believers a glimpse into God's wonderful future. The Apostle John received this revelation from God while he was on the island of Patmos. In this vision, John saw a new heaven and a new earth, where God would live with His people forever. Everything that causes pain in our present world will be completely removed.

The verse begins by saying, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." 😭➡️😊 This is a beautiful picture of God's personal love and care. Notice that God Himself wipes away every tear. It reminds us that He is not distant from our suffering. He knows every hurt, every silent prayer, every disappointment, and every tear we have ever shed.

Today, many people carry hidden pain. Some struggle financially, others battle illness, loneliness, anxiety, rejection, or broken relationships. Even faithful Christians experience hardship because we live in a world affected by sin. But this verse reminds us that our pain is temporary, while God's promises are eternal. 🌅

Next, the verse declares that there shall be no more death. Death is one of humanity's greatest fears. Since sin entered the world, death has touched every family. We mourn loved ones and experience the heartbreak of separation. Yet God promises a future where death itself will be defeated forever. Imagine a world where no funerals are held, no cemeteries exist, and no one says goodbye because life with God never ends. What a glorious hope! ✝️

The verse continues by saying there will be no more sorrow, crying, or pain. These words cover nearly every form of human suffering. Emotional pain, physical pain, grief, fear, depression, disappointment, and suffering will all disappear in God's eternal kingdom. There will be no hospitals, no diseases, no violence, no injustice, and no broken hearts. 🌈

The final sentence explains why: "for the former things are passed away." Everything connected with the old sinful world will be gone forever. God will create something completely new and perfect. The suffering we know today will become part of history, never to return.

However, this promise is not merely about the future. Even now, God offers comfort through His Holy Spirit. While believers may still experience tears in this life, they do not suffer without hope. Jesus promised to be with His followers always, giving strength, peace, and comfort through every trial. 🙏

This verse also reminds us that our current struggles should not define our faith. Difficult moments are real, but they are not the end of the story. God's final plan for His children is not suffering—it is everlasting joy. When life becomes difficult, we can hold firmly to this promise and remember that God is preparing something far greater than anything we have experienced here on earth.

For those who have not yet placed their trust in Jesus Christ, Revelation 21 serves as an invitation as well as a promise. Eternal life with God is offered through faith in Christ. The hope described in this verse belongs to those who accept His gift of salvation and choose to follow Him. 💖

As you meditate on this scripture today, let it fill your heart with hope. Whatever burden you are carrying, whatever tears you have cried, and whatever pain you are facing, remember that God sees it all. He has not forgotten you. One day, every sorrow will end, every tear will be wiped away, and His children will live forever in perfect peace.

🌟 Hold on to God's promises. Your present circumstances are temporary, but His love and His eternal kingdom will last forever.
