John 5 Verse 24 Explained
π VERSE OF THE DAY SCRIPTURE
John 5:24 (KJV):
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” ✨
π‘ EXPLANATION
This powerful statement by Jesus carries a deep and life-changing message. Let’s break it down in a simple way so anyone can understand it. π
First, Jesus begins with “Verily, verily”, which means “truly, truly”. This shows that what He is about to say is extremely important and trustworthy. He wants us to pay close attention. π
He then says, “He that heareth my word”. This is more than just physically hearing. It means listening with understanding and openness—allowing His message to enter your heart. ❤️
Next, “and believeth on him that sent me” refers to believing in God the Father who sent Jesus. This belief is not just intellectual agreement; it is a deep trust and confidence in God and His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. π
Now comes the promise: “hath everlasting life”. Notice that it says “hath” (present tense), not “will have.” This means that the moment a person truly believes, they already possess eternal life. It is not something to wait for—it begins now! π
Jesus continues, “and shall not come into condemnation”. This means that those who believe are no longer under God’s judgment or punishment for sin. Why? Because Jesus has already taken that punishment on their behalf. There is no fear of condemnation for those in Him. π️
Finally, He says, “but is passed from death unto life.” This is a beautiful transformation. Before believing, a person is spiritually dead—separated from God. But through faith in Jesus, they are spiritually alive and connected to God forever. π₯
In simple terms, this verse teaches that hearing the message of Jesus and truly believing in Him brings immediate and eternal life. It assures us of salvation, removes fear of judgment, and gives us a new identity as children of God. π
This is one of the clearest promises in the Bible: faith in Jesus changes everything—instantly and eternally. π
π€ SELF REFLECTION
Take a moment to reflect on this question: Do I truly believe in Jesus, or have I only heard about Him? π
It’s easy to listen to sermons, read scriptures, or hear others talk about faith—but Jesus is calling for something deeper: a personal belief and trust in Him.
Also ask yourself: Am I living with the confidence that I already have eternal life, or am I still struggling with fear and doubt? π±
This verse invites you into peace, assurance, and a transformed life. If you already believe, let this truth strengthen your faith. If you are unsure, this is an opportunity to open your heart and receive the gift of life that Jesus freely offers. π
