1 Corinthians 13 Verse 6 Explained

VERSE OF THE DAY SCRIPTURE 📖

1 Corinthians 13:6 (KJV): “Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.”

EXPLANATION 💡

The Apostle Paul wrote 1 Corinthians 13 to help believers understand what true love really means. In verse 6, Paul tells us that real love does not rejoice in iniquity — in other words, love does not take pleasure in wrongdoing or evil. Instead, true love rejoices in the truth. This means that love finds joy when what is right, good, and honest wins.

Let’s break it down simply. The word “iniquity” means sin, injustice, or doing something wrong. When someone lies, cheats, or hurts others, that’s iniquity. Real love doesn’t cheer for those things. For example, if your friend gets someone else in trouble and you secretly feel happy because it benefits you — that’s rejoicing in iniquity. It’s the kind of love that isn’t pure or godly. ❤️

On the other hand, “rejoiceth in the truth” means that love celebrates honesty, goodness, and righteousness. When you see someone do what’s right — even if it’s hard — love celebrates it. Love finds joy in fairness, justice, and truthfulness. 🙌

Think about it this way: God’s love is always connected to truth. That’s why Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” If we truly love like God loves, we will be happy when truth wins, not when lies or evil succeed. 💫

In everyday life, this verse teaches us to check our hearts. Do we secretly feel good when something bad happens to someone we don’t like? Do we laugh at or support things that go against God’s word because they seem fun or popular? If so, that’s a sign we need to grow in love.

True Christian love is pure. It stands with what is right, even when it’s unpopular. It doesn’t find joy in gossip, cheating, or unfair treatment. Instead, it finds joy when truth, honesty, and righteousness shine through. 💖

So, when you love your family, friends, classmates, or anyone else, make sure your love is the kind that rejoices in truth. That’s the kind of love God wants us to have — love that reflects His character and helps build a better world. 🌍

SELF REFLECTION 🤔

Take a moment to think about your actions and thoughts:

  • Do you ever find yourself feeling happy when someone you don’t like fails?
  • Do you laugh at things you know are wrong just because others do?
  • Or do you celebrate honesty and kindness, even when no one is watching?

True love doesn’t take sides with evil. It stands with truth — always. 💪 Ask God today to help you develop a heart that rejoices in truth and grieves over wrongdoing.
