Proverbs 18 Verse 10 Explained

VERSE OF THE DAY SCRIPTURE:

Proverbs 18:10 (KJV) — “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” 🕊️

EXPLANATION:

This verse from the book of Proverbs paints a beautiful picture of God’s protection and safety. It says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower.” What does that mean? 🤔

In ancient times, cities were surrounded by strong walls and towers. These towers were built tall and strong so that people could run into them for safety whenever enemies attacked. The tower was a symbol of security, strength, and refuge. No matter how strong the enemies were, once you were inside the tower, you were safe.

Now, the Bible compares the name of the Lord to that tower. But it’s not just talking about a name as in “letters or sounds.” In the Bible, a name often represents a person’s character, power, and presence. So, when the verse says “the name of the Lord,” it’s really talking about who God is — His love, power, mercy, faithfulness, and protection. ❤️

When we face fear, danger, or confusion, we can run to God by calling on His name — through prayer, worship, and trust. To “run” to the name of the Lord doesn’t mean we literally run somewhere; it means we turn our hearts and minds to Him. We rely on His strength instead of our own. 🛡️

The verse continues by saying, “The righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” The “righteous” are those who trust God and follow His ways. They don’t depend on their own strength or wisdom; they depend on God. And because they do, they find safety and peace even in the middle of life’s storms.

Think about it this way: if life feels like a battlefield — with problems, worries, or temptations — then God’s name is your safe house. You can call on Him anytime, anywhere, and He promises to be your refuge. 🏰

There’s also something comforting about the word “safe.” It reminds us that with God, we are not just protected physically but also spiritually and emotionally. Even when the world around us feels uncertain, His presence gives us peace and strength to keep going. 🙏

So next time you feel scared, weak, or unsure about something, remember Proverbs 18:10. Whisper His name — “Lord Jesus, help me.” That’s like running into the strong tower. You might not see the tower with your eyes, but in your heart, you’ll feel His safety and peace surround you. 💫

SELF REFLECTION:

Have you ever felt overwhelmed or afraid and needed somewhere safe to hide — not physically, but in your heart? 🥺 When was the last time you called on the name of the Lord for strength and protection?

Take a moment to think about what “running to God” looks like in your daily life. Do you pray when you’re stressed? Do you trust Him when things don’t make sense?
