John 20 Verse 21 Explained
✨ VERSE OF THE DAY SCRIPTURE ✨
John 20:21 (KJV)
“Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.”
π EXPLANATION
John 20:21 is a powerful and encouraging verse spoken by Jesus Christ to His disciples after His resurrection. This moment happened shortly after Jesus rose from the dead. The disciples were afraid, confused, and hiding behind closed doors because they feared persecution. Suddenly, Jesus appeared among them and spoke words filled with comfort, purpose, and divine assignment. π
The first thing Jesus said was: “Peace be unto you.” π️ This was not just an ordinary greeting. Jesus knew the hearts of His disciples were troubled with fear and uncertainty. By speaking peace over them, He was calming their hearts and reminding them that His resurrection had already given them victory over fear, sin, and death.
Even today, many people struggle with anxiety, confusion, fear about the future, financial worries, health challenges, and personal battles. This verse reminds us that Jesus still speaks peace into the lives of those who trust Him. π No matter the storm around you, the peace of Christ can strengthen your heart.
The second part of the verse says: “as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” πΆ♂️π₯
Here, Jesus was giving His disciples a mission. Just as God the Father sent Jesus into the world to preach truth, show love, heal the broken, and bring salvation, Jesus was now sending His followers to continue His work.
This means Christianity is not only about receiving blessings; it is also about living with purpose and representing Christ in the world. Every believer has a responsibility to shine God’s light through their words, actions, kindness, and character. π‘
You may not stand on a church altar to preach, but your daily life can preach to others. The way you treat people, forgive others, help the needy, encourage the discouraged, and remain honest in difficult situations can reflect Christ to the world.
This verse also teaches us something important about identity and calling. Many people today feel lost or unsure about their purpose in life. Jesus reminds believers that they are sent. You are not here by accident. God has a purpose for your life, gifts to use, and people to impact. π
Another beautiful lesson from this scripture is that Jesus did not wait for His disciples to become perfect before sending them. They still had doubts and fears, yet He trusted them with His mission. This shows God can use ordinary people with weaknesses to accomplish extraordinary things. πͺ✨
Sometimes we think we are too broken, too inexperienced, or too imperfect for God to use. But throughout the Bible, God used imperfect people who were willing to obey Him. Your willingness to follow Christ matters more than your perfection.
John 20:21 is therefore both a message of peace and a message of purpose. Jesus gives peace to calm your heart and purpose to guide your life. π️π₯
As believers, we are called to carry the message of hope, love, forgiveness, and salvation to the world around us. Whether through ministry, business, family life, friendship, or online interactions, we should reflect the heart of Christ everywhere we go.
π€ SELF REFLECTION
Take a moment to reflect on this question: Are you living as someone who has been sent by Christ? π
Do your actions bring peace, love, and hope to others? Are there areas in your life where fear has stopped you from fulfilling God’s purpose? Jesus is still saying today, “Peace be unto you.”
Maybe God is calling you to encourage someone, forgive someone, start something meaningful, share His word, or become a better example to others. π±
