2 Corinthians 9:7 (KJV)

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”


EXPLANATION 🕊️

The Bible verse 2 Corinthians 9:7 teaches an important lesson about giving and the attitude behind it. In this passage, Apostle Paul was encouraging believers to support and help others willingly and joyfully. The verse is not only about money 💰, but also about giving our time, kindness, love, help, and support to people around us.

The first part of the verse says:

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give...”

This means that giving should come from a personal decision made in the heart ❤️. God does not force anyone to give. Instead, He wants people to give because they truly desire to help and bless others. True giving begins from a sincere and loving heart.

The verse continues with:

“...not grudgingly, or of necessity...”

This means we should not give while complaining, feeling angry, or feeling pressured. Sometimes people give because they are forced by society, friends, or even religious expectations. But God is more interested in the attitude behind the gift than the size of the gift itself.

For example, someone may donate a large amount of money but do it with pride or bitterness. Another person may give only a little, yet give with joy and love. According to this verse, God values the cheerful and sincere heart more than the amount given 🙏.

The final part says:

“...for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 😊

This is the heart of the message. God delights in people who give gladly and joyfully. A cheerful giver understands that everything they have ultimately comes from God. Instead of holding tightly to their blessings, they willingly share with others.

Being a cheerful giver does not always mean giving money. You can give:

  • 🍲 Food to the hungry
