Romans 5:1 (KJV)

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”


✨ EXPLANATION

The verse Romans 5:1 is one of the most powerful and comforting statements in the entire New Testament. In just a few words, it explains the beautiful relationship between faith, salvation, and peace with God. To understand it clearly, let us break the verse into simple parts so anyone can grasp its meaning.

The verse begins with the word “Therefore”. This word points back to what the Apostle Paul had been explaining earlier in the book of Romans. He had just finished teaching that no human being can become righteous before God by their own works, religious efforts, or moral behaviour. Instead, righteousness comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

Next comes the phrase “being justified by faith.” The word justified is a legal term. It means to be declared righteous or innocent. Imagine someone standing in a courtroom accused of a crime, and the judge declares them “not guilty.” That is similar to what happens spiritually when a person believes in Jesus Christ.

Because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, God no longer sees the believer as guilty of sin. Instead, He sees them as righteous through Christ. This justification does not come from human effort. It comes through faith — trusting completely in what Jesus has done. 🙏

The verse continues: “we have peace with God.” This is a profound statement. Before salvation, humanity is separated from God because of sin. The Bible teaches that sin creates a barrier between people and their Creator. But through Jesus Christ, that barrier is removed.

Peace with God does not simply mean a feeling of calmness. It means the conflict between God and humanity has been resolved. Through Christ, believers are no longer enemies of God but are now reconciled to Him. They are welcomed into a restored relationship with their heavenly Father. 💙

Finally, the verse concludes with the phrase “through our Lord Jesus Christ.” This reminds us that Jesus is the only bridge between humanity and God. He is the one who paid the price for sin through His death and resurrection. Without Him, justification and peace with God would not be possible.

This verse also gives believers a sense of security and assurance. Notice it says “we have peace with God”, not “we might have peace” or “we hope to have peace.” The moment a person truly places their faith in Jesus Christ, they receive this peace as a gift of grace. 🎁

For many people, life is filled with anxiety, guilt, and spiritual uncertainty. They may wonder if they are good enough for God or if their mistakes have permanently separated them from Him. Romans 5:1 answers these fears. It teaches that peace with God is not earned — it is received through faith in Jesus.
