Hebrews 4:10 (KJV)
“For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.” 🕊️


EXPLANATION:

Hebrews 4:10 is a short verse, yet it carries a deep spiritual truth that speaks to rest, faith, and our relationship with God. To fully understand it, we must look beyond physical rest and grasp the spiritual rest the writer of Hebrews is referring to.

When the verse says, “he that is entered into his rest”, it is speaking about a believer who has come into God’s rest through faith in Christ. This rest is not merely about sleeping, relaxing, or taking a break from daily activities. Instead, it is a state of the heart and soul — a place of peace, assurance, and trust in God’s finished work 🙏.

The next part of the verse says, “he also hath ceased from his own works”. This does not mean that Christians should stop working or living responsibly. Rather, it means we stop trying to earn God’s approval through our own efforts, religious rituals, or personal righteousness. Salvation is not achieved by human effort but received by faith. Once a person truly trusts in Christ, they rest from the struggle of trying to “be good enough” for God.

The verse then adds, “as God did from his”. This phrase points us back to creation. After God finished His work of creation, He rested — not because He was tired, but because the work was complete ✨.
