Isaiah 25:1 (KJV): “O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.”

EXPLANATION 🕊️

Isaiah 25:1 is a powerful and uplifting verse where the prophet Isaiah expresses deep gratitude and admiration for God. Even though this verse was written thousands of years ago, its message is still meaningful today and can be understood by anyone — including a 10th grader.

Isaiah begins by saying, “O Lord, thou art my God.” This statement shows a personal connection. Isaiah is not speaking about God as a distant figure; instead, he acknowledges God personally. It is like saying, “God, You are not just the God of the world — You are my God.” This reminds us that a relationship with God is not just for church leaders or prophets; it is for every individual who chooses to know Him.

Next, he says, “I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name.” To exalt means to lift someone up high with honour and respect. Isaiah is basically saying, “God, I will publicly celebrate and honour You.” This teaches us an important lesson: when God does amazing things in our lives, we should not keep silent about it. Showing appreciation is a way of strengthening our relationship with Him.

Isaiah then gives the reason for his praise: “for thou hast done wonderful things.” God’s works are not ordinary; they are extraordinary. Think of moments when God protected you, provided for you, answered your prayers, or gave you peace in a tough time. These are the “wonderful things” Isaiah is referring to.

Finally, Isaiah says, “thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.” This means that God’s plans — even those made long before we were born — are built on truth and are always reliable. People may change, promises may be broken, and life may be unpredictable, but God’s word and His plans remain steady. Nothing He says or does is accidental. His intentions are always good, faithful, and trustworthy.

In simple terms, Isaiah 25:1 teaches us that:

  • God is personal — we can know Him individually.
  • We should praise God openly and joyfully.
  • God has done amazing things and continues to do so.
  • His plans and promises are solid, dependable, and based on truth.
