Judges 6 Verse 12 Explained
VERSE OF THE DAY SCRIPTURE 📖
Judges 6:12 (KJV)
“And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.”
EXPLANATION 💡
In this verse, we meet Gideon, a man who didn’t see himself as strong or brave. The Israelites were being oppressed by the Midianites, and Gideon was secretly threshing wheat in a winepress to hide it from them. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared and called him a “mighty man of valour.”
Now, that might sound strange — Gideon didn’t feel mighty or courageous at all. He was scared, hiding, and unsure of himself. But here’s the key lesson: God doesn’t see us as we are; He sees us as what we can become through Him. 🙌
When the angel said, “The Lord is with thee,” it wasn’t just a greeting — it was a powerful reminder that Gideon was not alone. Even though he felt small, God’s presence made him strong. God was about to use Gideon to deliver Israel from their enemies, showing that faith and obedience can turn ordinary people into extraordinary heroes.
This verse teaches us that God often calls us by what He has destined us to be, not by what we currently think we are. Gideon saw himself as weak, but God saw a warrior. The same applies to us — we might think we’re not smart enough, brave enough, or worthy enough, but when God is with us, we have everything we need to succeed. 💪✨
Many times, life makes us doubt our abilities. Maybe you’ve felt like Gideon — uncertain, fearful, or overlooked. But God’s message to you today is clear: “I am with you.” That changes everything. His presence gives you strength beyond what you can see. You may not feel mighty right now, but God has placed greatness inside you waiting to shine.
So whenever you face challenges or moments of fear, remember Gideon’s story. It’s not about how strong you feel — it’s about Who stands with you. If God is with you, courage will rise within you. 🕊️
SELF REFLECTION ðŸ’
Think about your own life for a moment. Are there areas where you feel too weak, too scared, or too unqualified? What if God is calling you to something greater, just like Gideon? 🤔
Take a moment today and remind yourself: “The Lord is with me.” Say it out loud. Feel the power in those words. You don’t have to be perfect — you just have to believe that God can work through you.
