Galatians 2 Verse 20 Explained

VERSE OF THE DA.Y SCRIPTURE:

Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

EXPLANATION:

πŸ™Œ This powerful verse from the Apostle Paul is one of the most beautiful explanations of what it truly means to be a Christian. It’s not just about following rules or going to church — it’s about a total transformation of who we are through faith in Jesus Christ.

When Paul says, “I am crucified with Christ,” he’s not saying he was physically nailed to a cross. Instead, he’s saying that his old sinful self — the part of him that lived only for worldly desires and selfish ambitions — was put to death when he accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour. ✝️

Through faith, Paul experienced a spiritual death to his old life and a new birth into the life of Christ. So when he says, “nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me,” he’s describing how his new life is guided by Jesus living inside him through the Holy Spirit. πŸ’«

This means that every action, thought, and decision is no longer based on what Paul wants, but on what Christ wants. His purpose in life has shifted — from serving himself to serving God. ❤️

The next part, “the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God,” reminds us that even though we are still human and live in physical bodies, our spiritual life depends entirely on our trust and faith in Jesus. It’s not about trying to be perfect or relying on our strength — it’s about depending daily on Christ’s strength to guide and empower us.

And why can we trust Him? Because, as Paul beautifully says, Jesus “loved me, and gave himself for me.” πŸ’– That’s the heart of the Gospel — Jesus didn’t die just for humanity in general; He died personally for you and me. His love is intimate, personal, and sacrificial. He gave His life so that we could live a new and meaningful life through Him.

In simpler terms: Paul is saying, “I’m not living my old life anymore. Christ is living through me. I trust Him completely because He loved me enough to die for me.” Isn’t that amazing? 🀯

SELF REFLECTION:

πŸͺžThink about it — can you say like Paul, “Christ lives in me”? Is your life being guided by your own desires, or by the Spirit of Jesus working in you?

Many of us struggle to let go of control and allow Christ to truly lead. But Galatians 2:20 reminds us that the Christian life isn’t about trying harder — it’s about trusting deeper. 🌱

Ask yourself today: πŸ’

  • Am I living by faith or by fear?
  • Do my daily actions reflect that Christ is living in me?
  • What parts of my old self do I need to surrender so that Jesus can shine more through me?

✨ Let this verse inspire you to draw closer to Jesus every day. Remember, you’re not alone — the same Christ who lived in Paul also lives in everyone who believes. πŸ™
